Associated BB Shocks & Clutch Shoes

August 26, 2008 | RC Car News |

“Team Associated have announced the release of some new parts for the RC8 and RC8T. Starting with these big bore shocks, they are available for both the front and rear of the car and come with hard anodized, threaded 16mm aluminum shock bodies. Extra-large shock bladders allow full volume compensation, while together with the heavy-duty 4mm stainless steel shafts the shocks provide increased stability in rough sections as well as providing softer landings on big jumps. Also new are some handy tools which will make your 16mm Big Bore shock adjustments a snap. Finally for both cars are these new clutch shoes made from durable and hard 2024 alloy that claim to extend the life of your clutch. The harder material will last longer between rebuilds and maintenance, which equates to more time on the track. Click more to see the other products…”

Review - Novarossi Plus 28-7 Engine

August 26, 2008 | RC Car News |

Myrcbox.com has recently published the following review - “For the test, I installed the Novarossi Plus 28-7 in my truggy coupled to a Team Associated Factory tuned pipe and I used Trinity Monster Horsepower 30% fuel. The engine fits directly where a .21 or .28 goes. The break-in was easy, the needles valves were set rich from the factory and the engine fired as soon as fuel entered the carb. After 2 tanks, I began to slowly lean the engine. At the end of the seventh tank, the engine was running in the 220-230F range with a light blue smoke coming out of the tuned pipe. The engine is really easy to tune, if you take your time and “listen” to your engine, tuning will be really easy.” Read More...[Source - Friend and site partnermyrcbox.com]

Dempsey Takes First National Win

August 26, 2008 | RC Car News |

“Former 1:1 scale Formula Renault race winner Keith Dempsey scored his first big rc race win over the weekend when the Team Serpent Ireland driver won the sixth & final round of the RCCAOI Irish 1:10 200mm National Championships at the St. Annes track in Dublin. Driving his 720 ‘08, Dempsey took his maiden victory from fellow Serpent driver Chris Lawlor to claim a result which would top off the perfect season for Team Serpent. By locking out the top two places on the podium the pair ensured Clive Connolly won the 1:10 200mm National title at his first attempt. Having successfully defended his 1:8 National title at the previous round Connolly and Serpent claimed a unique National Championship double while Michael Byrne and Chris Lawlor made it total Serpent domination by winning the respective 1:8 and 1:10 ORCA Championships.” Read More…  [Source - serpent.com]

Werks Racing Inserts

August 26, 2008 | RC Car News |

“Werks Racing is pleased to announce the release of it’s new and improved 1/8th buggy inserts. How do you improve on our neon green buggy inserts that were already one of the most popular molded inserts amongst the US indoor racing crowd? It’s not easy I’ll tell you that much! We kept the same wide, slightly rounded profile that works exceptionally well with most of today’s more popular tire designs on the market. However when it came to materials we took a fresh approach! Our inserts use a new, lighter weight, higher quality material that allows us to make an even more consistent insert, virtually eliminating any difference in hardness between one insert to another. This allows you to have the most consistent and balanced performance from your tires! As an added bonus the new material is less prone to disintegrating resulting in a more consistent, longer wearing insert all at the same price as the old one! Werks Racing 1/8th buggy molded insert WRX7092, still the same part number but now even better. Easily recognizable in new “pure white”!” [Source -neobuggy.net]

Alsop Takes Apex GP

August 26, 2008 | RC Car News |

“Hobao factory driver Graham Alsop took TQ and the win at the prestigious Apex GP at Slough. Graham had a hard battle for pole position with Associated driver Elliott Boots, but it was the Hobao driver who came out on top to take the qualifying honours. By taking TQ Graham avoided the lottery of a semi final and this was what accounted for Elliott and meant the young man from Kent was unable to take his place in the main final. Elliott was unlucky as a receiver lead pulled out and ended his challenge. The main final saw Graham drive fast and controlled, using his RB/Byron power package to stretch out the fuel stops to 10 minutes which gives a big advantage at Slough due to the very slow pit lane. Graham went on to win unchallenged from David Crompton and Jon Hazelwood. 4th and 5th were Jon Howells with his Picco powered Hobao and Craig Drescher with the RB Associated. All of the top 5 chose Proline tyres to take them to the front.” [Source - cmldistribution.co.uk]

Dempsey & Whelan Win Irish Nats Rd6

August 25, 2008 | RC Car News |

“The final round of the Irish National On road Nitro Championships took place yesterday at the St. Annes track in Dublin with the main attention being on the 1:10 200mm class with the title still up for grabs. Team Serpent Ireland driver Clive Connolly, who wrapped up the 1:8 title and won the 1:10 A Final to go top of the standings at the previous round, was absent from the season finale meaning Xray driver Eoin Doran had the opportunity to snatch the title on tie break if he could take Round 6 victory, but it wasn’t to be. In qualifying it was top UK Championship racer Mark Gilliland that would TQ ahead of his Xray team-mate Doran with Team Serpent Ireland’s Keith Dempsey third.” Read More… [Source - redrc.net]

“The East Coast Nitro Series was wrapped up recently with two very talented drivers demonstrating the power of the Go engine by dominating the buggy class. Here is a quick write up from the race. Final report from the East Coast Nitro Series. This series was a 8 race series taking 6 of your best races. Going into the last race Chris Pace and Brandon Melton had 1st and 2nd locked up in the series. Chris had a 25 point lead going into the day. With some great driving by Melton he grabbed the TQ spot witch took 5 points out of Pace’s lead. In the main Pace had to finish 4 spots behind Melton in order for Melton to take it home. Pace started 4th in the main with Melton at the point. At the drop of the flag Melton lead off and Pace made it up to 3rd. In turn one Pace got taken out and was dead last, with Melton in the lead. After the first lap Pace was 15 sec. down on a 33 sec. lap track. Chris knew if he ran a steady pace he could catch up with the leaders battling.
