Team Shepherd reports – “Last weekend the first national race of the Spanish 1/8th On-Road Championship took place in Cerdanyola, close to Barcelona. The weather forecast was not very promising but only a little rain shower on Friday morning delayed the start of the free practice. The qualifying went well for the Spanish Shepherd Team with Carlos Peracho on 3nd position and Joaquin Villegas on 4th position placing two Velox drivers directly in the main final. They were joined by Shepherd driver Alberto Gonzalez who bumped up from the semi finals. At the start of the final Carlos show that he was fast. Although he made some small mistakes he putted a lot of pressure on the leading due Cabezas and Lopez. Cabezas soon broke his car after driving over some pieces on the track, passing the lead to Lopez who had a nice fight with Carlos. During this stage of the race Alberto Gonzales had to retire due to radio problems. At 14 minute of race Carlos ran out of fuel loosing 3 laps on Lopez but he still remained on the 2nd place. A few minutes later Lopez had to retire too due to a mechanical problem, giving the lead to Carlos who cross the finish line 1st position. Also Joaquin who had some problems at the beginning of the race was able to recover an finished on 3rd position. It has been a great result for Team Shepherd finishing 1st, 3rd and 10th.” Shepherd

“Much-More Racing team drivers, World Champion Andy Moore (HB), European Champion Juho Levanen (Associated) and European and BRCA star Olly Jefferies have confirmed they will attend the Union Square GP race on 17th-18th April 2010. With the meeting almost full, only a few more places remain for what will be a superb event. The serious racing will be combined with ‘have a go’ sessions where members of the public can try out 1:10th scale F1 cars fitted with Much-More Racing electronics and provided for the event by Much-More Racing UK. Much-More Racing UK have also arranged for the feature length documentary movie ‘Carpet Racers’ to be shown at the Union Square Cineworld complex on the evening of Saturday 17th April (subject to local council certification approval). X Factory just uploaded an awesome new video of the X – 6 Squared Kit. The video is a rapid slide show of the new Kit coming together, almost an animated car build. It all ends with several body-off photos of the assembled Kit. Additional still photos will be released next week. X Factory president Chazz said, “I like kicking off the biggest project we’ve ever done with something exciting and different. Paul and I just finished writing and photographing the instruction manual, and Paul suggested we put together this video – the results were surprisingly good. As to the kit itself, we’ve experienced a few last-minute problems, but the K 021 X – 6 Squared Kit should ship to hobby stores all over the world between the 20th and 25th of March.”

HongNor reports – “Last weekend the JC Cup (Jutland Cup) was held in Denmark. All the best drivers from Denmark was in attendance and our HongNor team driver Tim Culmsee won both truggy and buggy classes! In the truggy class, Tim finished 1 lap ahead of the current Danish champion. According to Tim, the truck performed perfectly all day. In the buggy class, Tim had some tough fights, but he kept calm and managed to take the victory.”

The Thurston racing family recently paid a visit to the newly completed Ardent Raceway indoor EP track. Julie Thurston was so impressed with the facility that she sent this report – “I don’t know if you have heard about a new electric racetrack called Ardent Raceway? We are lucky because it is only 15 mins away from us and right near to Donington Park. It is a big unit with a great carpet track, very well laid out with good pit space. It has a shop selling electric stuff and a cafe and even a playroom for the dad’s who want to bring their children and can leave them safely whilst they race.” Find Out More…
