“Keven Hébert dominated the 1/12 Open class at the 2010 ROAR On-Road Nationals hosted by Norcal Hobbies in Union City, CA. By scoring maximum points in three out of four qualifying rounds, Keven secured the pole position for the triple A-Main event. Teammates Rick Hohwart and Bob Stellflue rounded out the top three positions on the grid. The main event was dominated by Hébert. Although Hohwart put up a fight, Hébert easily won the first two legs to secure his first ROAR Nationals title. With the championship decided, the third leg was won by Hohwart who secured the second position overall. Stellflue claimed the last step on the podium to make it a 1-2-3 Reedy/LRP sweep! All three drivers chose Reedy LiPo batteries for their excellent power output and capacity with LRP SXX speed controls providing precision throttle control. LRP reports – “LRP team driver Ronald Völker and the SXX Competition version 2 convince at the IFMAR 1/12 World Championship. And the world champion defends his title. From June, 27 to July, 4 the attention of the whole R/C scene is concentrated on Burgdorf, a city with 30.000 inhabitants near Hannover, Germany. There the IFMAR World Championships in 1/12 and 1/10 Touring Car take place. Two classes, a complete week of racing action and two World Championship titles attract the top-class drivers from all around the world. The event began with the 1/12 Modified class. Among the favourites for the 2010 title were LRP top driver Ronald Völker (Germany), Marc Rheinard (Germany) and the defending champion Naoto Matsukura (Japan). But also USA’s and Canada’s best drivers were attending: Josh Cyrul, Paul Lemieux and Keven Hebert aimed to make life hard for the favourites and the other European drivers such as Elliot Harper (UK), Simo Ahoniemi (Finland) and Jilles Groskamp (Netherlands).”

Naoto Matsukura is once again the IFMAR 1:12 World Champ after his amazing performance in Burgdorf, Germany. The 16-year-old made a mistake in the opening section of corners, however it wasn’t long before he was back on track allowing him to take his second World title.

“Team Associated Factory Team driver Keven Hébert filed the following report from Northeast Grand Slam Series round #3 in Cincinnati, OH. The third leg of the NEGS (Northeast Grand Slam Series) was held the weekend of January 16-17 in at Tri-State Hobbies in Cincinnati, Ohio. Having missed the second leg of the series, I had some extra pressure to do well now that I had already used my one throw-out. Friday was practice all day and early on I was very happy with both my TC5R and 12R5.1. Along with Paul Ciccarello, I was setting some of the fastest lap times in both Pro Rubber class and Pro 1/12 Class. Chris Goetz was also showing some early speed and was turning some fast laps with his Schumacher car in the rubber class. Three rounds of qualifying were scheduled for Saturday. At the end of the day, I had secured TQ in both the Rubber Touring Car and 1/12 classes with a comfortable five-second lead in TC and six seconds in 1/12.” Read More…
