Phil Sleigh takes BRCA Micro Rd1

October saw the first round of this years BRCA Micro National Series and Losi were strongly represented with 5 of the 10 cars making the A-main coming from them. The Micro scene in the UK appears to be going from strength to strength and received 70 entries for the first round which was a new best for the section. There was also a first as Silverstone hosted a Micro National on Astroturf at their excellent Moulton college venue, this proved to be a challenging surface for a lot of the section as most of the drivers had never raced on Astroturf before. With no new cars on show this year the rivalry between Losi, Carisma & LRP.

Andy Jones was sphere heading the Losi team this year and despite a slow start it was business as usual for the Losi driver as he lined himself up at the right end by qualifying 3rd overall. Andy was running a standard RTR Kit car, the only differences being the Alloy upgrades that are available as well as using slightly stiffer springs on the front. Andy’s complete set-up is available in the Losi Mini-8 section of the ever popular UK Micro forum - http://www.uk-microrc.co.uk/forum/

The final itself was unusually un-scrappy which saw Andy drop a place on the first corner after a great move from Craig Harris. Andy soon recovered after an error by Craig but at this point the Carisma’s of former 1/10th European A Finalist Phil Sleigh and Tony Bishop were too far ahead for Andy to mount a series challenge. The full result was:
1st – Phil Sleigh - Carisma
2nd Tony Bishop - Carisma
3rd Andy Jones - Losi
4th Steve Davies - Losi
5th Ben Elliott - Losi
6th Daniel Murphy - Carisma
7th Gavin Stephenson - Losi
8th Mark Williamson - Carisma
9th Craig Harris - Carisma
10th Steve Biscoe - Losi

The section committee would like to thanks Silverstone for a fantastic start to this years series and we look forward to heading to the ever-popular Hereford venue in the coming weeks where once again early indications are that we will have record breaking numbers for a Micro event in the UK.
